Founded by Nathaniel Ansari, Interwoven Threads Consulting is a grants and fundraising consulting firm built on the premise that communities and people are collectively stronger when they have access to the resources they need to prosper.
By addressing the intersections and root causes of societal issues - whether through direct needs or long-term systems solutions - we can build a future in which everyone feels engaged and included in building a future where all of our collective needs are met.
In order to do this, we need to be supporting our mission-based and values-driven organizations because they are the foundations of our communities and indicators of community well-being.
Securing funding for organizations while building capacity for their fundraising efforts is our way of driving transformational growth for collective impact.
As a consulting firm providing grants and fundraising services to mission-driven organizations, we understand the transformational power that properly funded programs have on local communities, state-level advocacy, and national movement building. By aligning funders with missions that speak to mutual goals, we have the ability to make true impact for future generations.
With an intentional and comprehensive approach to addressing clients' needs, Interwoven Threads Consulting can help you reach your grants and fundraising goals.
Shared purpose leads to greater impact. We believe the strongest missions are those built on strong bonds of trust. We honor this by leading with authentic communication, respect, and deep understanding for your needs. To do this, we prioritize creating an open atmosphere where we can engage openly and honestly so that, together, we can build strategies to reach your goals. This means embracing difficult conversations, accepting when we need to say 'no', and engaging with what is realistic and what needs to be developed further.
The only way we can reach our goals is to maintain open channels of communication, develop clear objectives, and make vital information accessible. Security is important to us, and we engage you at every step so that you never feel left out of the process or unclear of what our work involves. We know that you are the expert of your mission and programs, and we make sure your voice speaks loud throughout the work we produce together.
Creating a participatory environment where you and your staff's expertise shine through is important to us. As an inherently collaborative process, we want you to see us as partners in your work. This means making space so that every needed voice is included in the creation of any materials generated during the process.
We embrace the philosophy of life-long learning, meaning we are learning from you and your organization as much as you are learning from us. Active listening and engagement is fundamental to crafting compelling narratives and metrics that speak to your mission. Working with us means you will get solid research and engaging questions as we explore ways to share your organization's story to funders and the community.
Money talk of any kind is stressful for most people. Discussing grants deadlines and fundraising strategies don't help either. We strive to bring lightness and humor into the conversation without losing the topic's importance or serious nature. We want you to feel comfortable sharing your needs with us, and we aim to build trust with humility and understanding. At the end of the day, we are all trying to do our best, and we honor this by humanizing the grants and fundraising process with authenticity, lightness, and humor throughout our interactions.
Founder of Interwoven Threads Consulting, Nathaniel Ansari doesn't like boxes; they don't get to the true connections of things, and stifle creativity. He leads with this philosophy in mind.
Nathaniel has worked in and out of nonprofits since 2015. Before that, he worked as a musician, though due to chronic illness he had to put up his instruments. He began working in grants in 2022, at a particularly difficult time managing his illness. Finding the grants process intriguing, he began freelancing and working as an in-house grants advisor, leading up to the founding of Interwoven Threads Consulting in 2024. Now, Nathaniel works exclusively as a grants and fundraising consultant.
Managing his illness has shaped his approach to consulting, and life in general. After getting severely ill in 2010 with ME/CFS, a long-term hidden illness, Nathaniel spent the next decade struggling to rebuild his career, life, and health. Despite - or in spite of - the illness, Nathaniel was able to receive BA in Arts Management at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay and an MA in International Cultural and Creative Industries at Taipei National University of the Arts, in Taipei, Taiwan.
Nathaniel has served on numerous local, state, and national boards and committees. He currently serves as President of the Wisconsin Chapter for the Grant Professionals Association, Member of Solve M.E.'s Lived Experience Taskforce, and Program Committee Member for the Nonprofit Leadership Initiative in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Titled Hearth and starting life as an art piece, Interwoven Threads Consulting's logo was designed for the 2018 exhibition Difference & Identity: Contemporary Cross-Cultural Encounter Through Art in Taipei, Taiwan. As a co-curator, Nathaniel Ansari developed a portion of the exhibit called I Belong, which explored post-colonial perceptions of belonging, identity, and community.
Hearth's original design was to convey the warmth of social gathering spaces and the interconnected nature of global communities. These interactions shape our identity and sense of belonging, molding us as we move through life. When we meet, we share ideas, leaving each other new thoughts and emotions, which we pass on to others.
To convey this idea, Hearth was interactive. With two statements as guides - "This Is" and "I Am" - visitors would draw or write whatever they wanted onto the art piece. The result at the exhibition's end was an example of a global community of thought. Visitors wrote in English, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, French, and Hebrew. Some drew on Hearth. Others wrote introspective quotes and thoughts conjured up by the artwork. By the end, a community had formed simply through interactions made by going to an exhibition.
So, reader, why don't you join the exhibition visitors from 2018. What is this?
The concept was developed by Nathaniel Ansari and designed by his wife Claudia Damiani, a museum director, exhibition curator, and photographer.
